Peacefully Watching is perhaps the most personal sculpture on the YV Art Grounds. Created collaboratively by Yin Peet and Viktor Lois, it is a portrait of their partnership—not only as artists, but as two people who shared the dream of building this museum together.

The sculpture is built around two components that depend on one another. The standing female figure leans completely against the cross-like structure. Fully supported by the steel structure, she appears to be contemplating, quietly observing the world.

The female figure represents Yin’s artistic language. Sculpted over a wooden framework with expanding foam, fiberglass, and pine needles embedded in resin, she brings warmth and an organic presence to the work. The steel structure represents Viktor—strong, direct, and shaped by his passion for transforming industrial materials into art. At its center, a wind-powered red propeller symbolizes his heart, while the illuminated head of Viktor keeps the sculpture alive after dark.

Viktor liked to joke that the sculpture should really be called Yin Peacefully Watching the Self-Crucified Viktor. Beneath the humor was a truth: he often felt that he had given everything—his time, energy, and heart—to the creation of these art grounds and it’s his mission to do so.

Together, the two figures express the balance that sustained both the partnership and the museum itself.  Peacefully Watching is about trust and mutual support, and the two founders of the museum’s missionary spirit.
